Have You Ever Been to Whistler?

Hello! Happy Spring :)

Finally a monstery update! I have been wanting to share this exciting news for awhile, but had to wait until it was "official". "Official" meaning, getting my butt in gear and getting all these monsters sewn and tagged, and shipped off.

I was contacted about a month ago, from a lovely lady at the Summit Lodge in Whistler BC. Asking to adopt a pile of monsters to put in their hotel rooms for adoption. Such a cool idea!

And so, the sewing began. These guys were really excited about their
mountain adventure, the ski-ing, and the spa.
Finally getting to #100 in about 4 weeks. Tagging them, and shipping
them off. I chose not to name these, so if you end up adopting a Summit Monster, I would love to hear what name you came up with! I will attached pictures of them to my flickr page, and will add
the names in, if you send them my way ;)

Exciting news in my little monstery world!

So, if you are in Whistler, and adopt a monster while staying at the
Summit Lodge, send pics my way ;) I would love to see them!

Pile #2 is in progress :)

Happy Feb

I know.. it's nearing the end of February already, and I have yet to keep up to my biweekly posting. I am in the process of trying to learn how to revamp my blogger, and well.. it's not that easy. I also tried posting from work (where I spend majority of my day), and firefox does not like my blog, and therefor will not open it! Ack!

So in the next week or so, I will be catching up on some blogger tutorials, and seeing if I can give my blog a bit of a new look :) As well as sewing some newbies! My current monster count for 2013 is at about 48. My goal, is to sew 50ish a month, so I can keep ahead of the game for Christmas shows... although it seems really really gross to be thinking of that... I am hoping to add one more bigger Calgary show to the mix this year, so I need to plan well in advance!

Hope you are all doing well! xx

Happy 2013

Hello, after MANY attempts, I finally am able to post a wee bit on my blog. Blogger is having a few issues, and first I could not add pictures, then text. Pictures are still of a process, but here I am!

... 3 months later although! Ahhh
I wanted to wish everyone a HAPPY NEW YEAR! And a big Thank you SO MUCH for all the monster love in 2012. It's always amazing to me how much people love my monsters ;) I am very very lucky! I am hoping to move into a few more bigger shows this year, which should have me sewing alot more, I should be at this very moment actually ;)

And, I vow to update this blog more, twice a month I hope, if not more.

So, Merry 2013, and you'll be seeing more of Sherman soon, along with other monster news! xo

Pumpkin Tarts

Thanksgiving is on it's way :) My favorite... is the pumpkin pie...
and the whip cream. Mashed potatoes and gravy are pretty good too.
You can of course use canned pumpkin... but we typically start a hurricane in the kitchen, and use fresh pumpkin. I medium sized one, will make about 6 to 7 dozen tarts. Quarter the pumpkin, clean out the inside, soften in microwave, blend through processor or blender, and then strain it with cheesecloth to get out excess water.
In a bowl, mix together :

1 1/2 cups pumpkin
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup white sugar
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp cloves
1 tsp ginger
1 cup evaporated milk
2 eggs, beaten

Whisk together until well combined :)
Fill tart shells (about 1 heaping tbsp of filling)
Bake for 8 minutes at 450, and then reduce to 350 and bake
another 20 - 25 minutes.
Let cool, LOAD with cool whip, and Enjoy :)

September

Hello! Remember me?
Summer has zipped right by. Instead of holidays, we decided to renovate this year... not quite as much fun, but the outcome was awesome! I might have to post a pic or two in the weeks to follow, when I will be updating my blog regularily...I know, you've heard that before.
I only did 2 markets this summer. And have signed up for 2 markets for the Christmas season. First I will be doing Our Best To You, in Red Deer on October 26th thru 28th. And one at the Calgary Waldorf School in November. Will post dates and times as they near.
So my stock (sock) pile is at about 60 monsters.. and I have ALOT of sewing to do.
