Happy New Years Eve's Eve

Hello! Happy... Thursday!
I have lost all track of the day, and time, with being
on holidays! We had a super Christmas, Dinnon was
spoiled with all kinds of lego, and chocolate :)

We've been having a lazy week, playing Donkey Kong,
doing the odd bit of work here and there. This weekend
we are off to BC to do a bit of ski-ing and ring in 2011.
Dinnon has his gingerale all stocked up, and can't wait to get
his party hat on! I'll be sure to update with some pics :)
Over the next few weeks I will be working away
at getting some Valentines Monster's made up :)
Like these 2, Larmut & Amelia.
You can find them in my etsy shop :)

See you soon!! xo

Merry Merry!

Hello! Hard to believe that Christmas Eve will already
be upon us tomorow! The month has quickly passed by!
Dinnon is patiently awaiting santa, and has snuggled in
amongst the tree, and might even indulge in some
rum free nog tonight :)

From our house to yours,
we wish you a Very Merry Christmas :)

Dinnon hopes Santa spoils you!!

11 More Sleeps

Hi :)

I have been a wee bit busy this week with Christmas-sy
stuff! But I am NEARLY done :) Yay! I soon hope to
be posting Dinnon with the lights, and if he gets nervy
enough, we are going to visit Santa :) I might have time
to squeeze in a new recipe or two, but first we have
a birthday to celebrate this week!

I am super excited to be adding some Upcycled
Sweater Monsters to my etsy shop! :)

And I will be continually adding some newbies to my
etsy as time permits. Pictured above is Munsen and
Ebert, you can check them out here!

Are you ready for Christmas???

Wednesday, December 8, 2010

Hi :) I wanted to take a quick minute to thank everyone
who adopted a little monster over the last month or so.
Monday was my last craft sale for the season!

I have about 20ish left, so if you need a monster, you can
get in touch with me via email (

Or of course you can check out my etsy shop.

If you click the etsy link on the right side ----------->
it will take you straight there :)

You might remember from last year, our little lego
building obsession. Dinnon LOVES it, I love it, the kids
love it. And for about 3 years now it's been our tradition
to get this Lego advent calendar :) We set up a little station, and add to it each day. Last year
it was pretty disspointing not to get a santa, so I had to
order one off ebay! He is Dinnon's favorite by far!
Lots of little Christmas stuff. Snowmen, trees, ice skaters,
elves, a chimney with stockings. But then they add in a crane,
and this morning we got a dog, and a cooler with hotdogs
in it. - Random? Yep, lol. But fun.
Only 17 more sleeps!
St. Nick will be here before we know it!

Hope you are having a great week,
and enjoying the Christmas season :)

Whipped Shortbread

Hi :) I thought I would take advantage of a free
afternoon last weekend, and get a little baking done.

Last year you might remember this post,
where we whipped up some shortbread & Yum Yum
for your coffee (recipe is posted).

I had a few ppl comment that their shortbread didn't
work out so well, so Dinnon decided he would demonstrate :)
Doesn't he look SUPER cute in his little hat :)
You will need Butter, Icing Sugar, Vanilla, Cornstarch, and
Flour. If you have a mixmaster, that would be AWESOME.
First : Whip 1 lb. of butter up until it is really light and
fluffy. Make sure your butter is at room temp, and nice
and soft. I left mine out overnight. Whip, whip, whip away
and once it's smooth and creamy, add your vanilla. Once
that is mixed in, slowly add your icing sugar, flour, and
cornstarch about 1 cup at a time. Be sure to mix well
in between each new addition. Scrape the sides of your bowl consistently to make sure you
get all the dry ingredients combined. I let mine whip up for a
good 3 to 4 minutes. You should get awesome light, fluffy
dough. I doubt you can "over whip" this shortbread.
Drop by teaspoonful's onto a ungreased cookie sheet.
And bake for 10 to 12 minutes @ 350 F.
Melt in your mouth.. just like butter :)

Here is the recipe :)

1 lb. Butter
1 tsp Vanilla
1 Cup Icing Sugar
3 cups Flour
1/2 cup Cornstarch

Blend butter to soften. Add vanilla & mix.
Add dry ingredients slowly, about 1 cup at a time,
mixing consistently, scraping down sides.
Once everything is combined, beat well with electric mixer.
Drop by spoonful's onto ungreased cookie sheet,
and bake for 10 to 12 minutes @ 350 F.

You can also check out THIS POST, to find
recipes for : Skor Bar Squares, Cuban Lunch,
and Caramel Popcorn twists!

Wanna make Nuts & Bolts??
THIS recipe is so yummy!

I will be posting a few new recipes this year too,
but not until AFTER this weekend. Where you can find
me at the Red Deer Christmas Bazaar, at the Westerner
on Saturday and Sunday from 10 to 4 pm :)

Have a great week!

38 More Sleeps!

Brrrrr! Happy Wednesday. Winter has finally arrived!
Of course it was coming, it was nice to have no snow
up until now, but I suppose it makes it feel more like
Christmas. I love Christmas. I love shopping, I love
the tree, I LOVE my lego advent calendar. I love
baking with the kids. I love how excited they still get,
& how they still want a little monster popping out
of their stocking :) I also love craft sales. And this year I am BUSY with
sales and recently my etsy got a little busy when my
Geeky Gene made it into "Etsy Finds", an awesome
little etsy newsletter. I have shipped out a handfull of
monsters all over the states in the last week.

So.. this is my "work in progress" from last night.
I hope to get these stitched up, limbs attached tonight.
I had lots of help from my hubby & daughter last night.
I also managed to get a few Couch Newbies sewn up.
Sometimes they are a way to cute to part with, but I MUST.
Or so I have been told :)

This weekend you can find me at the Carstairs
Community Hall from 10 to 4 pm on SATURDAY ONLY.

Hope you have a great week!

November 11th marks the official end of WWI on that date
in 1918. Major hostilities of WWI were formally ended on
the 11th hour, on the 11th day, of the 11th month.

The red poppy has become a familiar emblem of
Remembrance Day due to the poem "In Flanders Field".
These poppies bloomed across the worst battlefields of
Flanders, in WWI, their bright red color is an appropriate
color for the blood spilt in war.

Trick or Treat 2010

Hi! Happy November! And.. a warm sunny November so
far! Woo Hoo! Halloween was awesome as always!
Super nice night for all the little trick or treaters :)
We did a little carving... 5 pumpkins to be exact :)
They all turned out super awesome! We even ended up
having a little in house competition. Dinnon was more
interested in the guts, and picking out the seeds.
We made up treat bags with playdough, and pencils.
SUPER fun erasers.. cause every kid wants those on
halloween ;) Dinnon wore his costume all weekend (he's
crazy like that sometimes) and discovered that Kit Kat's
are his most FAVORITE candy every. Perfect for sharing :)
We did a little tricking :)
And made some brainy lemonade...YUM! I hope you all had an awesome halloween!

A quick little monster update, I have sewn up my

That is my least favorite part.. arms. So tedious.
Tonight I hope to finish up faces and tomorrow tag
them :) So Friday we can spend the night watching
scary movies, and carving pumpkins! Dinnon has his
pattern all picked out!

I have some fun little snacks to make and post too :)

This Saturday is the start of my Christmas Craft Sales.
You can find me at the Didsbury Curling Rink

Monster Motivation

Hi :) Happy Tuesday!
Just popping in to give a quick monstery update.
I have 6 sales coming up over the next month and
a half, and I have to admit that I have been lacking a
wee bit in the sewing department. No particular reason,
I seem to have lost my October mojo. I finally put up my
halloween stuff this last week, it's my favorite holiday!
I dug out all my sweater stock, and again vowed not to buy
another sock. The pile is ridiculous.. and have been plugging
away. My goal, is to have at least 40 done by next weekend.
I'll keep you posted!
My next sale is on October 30th in Didsbury, I will post more
details on that next next week when we are a little closer.
Hope you are having a great week!

I better get sewing...

A quick post to say thank you to everyone who came
out and adopted a monster at the Red Deer Market

It was my BEST market ever, and it was awesome to
see so many little guys get adopted! I hope to be
back there next year with a permanent spot ;)

So Thank You! And You, and you...and you!

Candy Turkeys!!

Hiya :) Happy Friday, and a long weekend too! Woo Hoo!
Tomorrow will be the very last Red Deer Market!
We'll be there from 8 to 12:30 :)

For Thanksgiving, I thought I would share these
cute little turkeys with you.

A few years ago, a dear friend of mine, showed me
these and now they are a thanksgiving tradition :)

They are super cute place settings at the dinner table!

All you need is these few ingredients :
- Candy Corn
- Chocolate Icing
- Lindor Chocolate Balls
- Mr. Christie Chocolate Wafers
Firstly put your icing in a piping bag with a small tip, or
even in a ziploc bag, and snip a tiny bit of the corner off.
Then with a steak knife, cut the bottom portion off of each
cookie, as shown. You will need 2 of these for each turkey.
Then, around the edge put a wee bit of icing, for
the candy corn to stick too :)
Place the candy around the edge in a fan, pressing into the
icing to make the feathers. Let this dry for approximately
10 minutes before handling them.
Then apply a line of icing along the bottom of the back piece,
as well as along the edge of the bottom piece, and a little
dot of icing to add the lindor ball to. You have to do this
little step relatively quick. Once you have the back
and the bottom together, pop the little ball on there
to act as a bit of a prop, so the back doesn't fall off.
Then I prop it up again something, to hold it in place
while the icing sets. Once you have all your turkeys
together, you can personalize them, and then add a little
dot of icing to the top, and a little red m&m.
And Voila! Done! Super Cute & Tasty :)

Happy Thanksgiving!!

Domo Arigoto, Mr. Roboto

Hello! I hope you all had a good weekend!
We had football, yardwork, and made cake pops!
Yum!! I was super excited when I received my
Bakerella Cake Pop book last week, we had
to try some of them out this weekend. If you haven't heard about Bakerella yet, you are missing out!
You can check out her fabulous blog here, and check out
her recently released cake pop book too!
So, there are over 40 different little cake pop
"patterns", we decided on the robots.
Bender decided to help out, he was the official taste tester.
Not a bad job when there is chocolate, candy, sugar,
cake, and more sugar involved :) Along with Candy Melts, we raided the candy
store, picking up all the"neccessities".
And after just a few, I let the kids take over and come
up with all these little master creations. 3D eyes,
headphones, sweatbands, hair, they had it ALL.
(And I had a HUGE mess to clean up)But they were super fun, and yummy too!
I will admit, these are not as easy as they look, I
had some major cracking issues, & some chocolate issues.

So my advice... read the tips.. BEFORE you make these.
Pretty Simple!

Hope you have a great week!

September :)

Hello! Happy September :)
I can't believe we are nearly at the 1/2 way mark!
I am happy to report 4 darling children settled back in
SCHOOL. Yahoo! I love routine :)
I am still doing the odd Red Deer market, as long as
the weather permits. It's pretty dark and chilly most
mornings, brrr. Definitely feels like fall! I am working away
to get my stock up for 7 Fall / Christmas shows this year.
The most I have ever done.. I pray I didn't overbook.
So far.. the above is my setup at home...
A little closer look at some newbies :) I have already fallen
in love with one, and am not sure if I can part with him!
I have also gotten a wee bit of crochet done lately. This super
cute giraffe, and duck.. since this photo I have completed an
elephants, and part of a bear. All free patterns from lionbrand!

So as the weather keeps cooling off, I will be posting whether
or not I will be at the Red Deer Market.

My first craft show later this month :
September 25th, from 10 to 4
Carstairs Pumpkin Festival :)

This will be my FIRST time attending, and since
Halloween is my FAVORITE time of year,
I can't wait!
