Meet Fletcher!

Hello! Happy Wednesday :) I am just checking in on this super chilly day. I suppose winter isn't quite gone after all :(

I have been up to a bit of sewing, but not LOTS by any means. As a self proclaimed craft addict, I have decided to try and declutter my space a wee bit, and that is what I have been working on.. with a couple of monsters on the side. I will soon post what monsters I have up for adoption, you will be able to find them on my facebook page.

In the meantime, I would like you to meet Fletcher. Awhile back, I got this neat book called "Stray Sock Sewing" which is full of cool fun sock critters! Including the pattern for Fletcher.

Fletcher is a pretty humble guy, as you can see with his monotone look, and hands in his pockets. He is pretty relaxed, until it comes to tennis. Yes, tennis is his sport of choice, and he takes it VERY seriously. He currently holds the title "Sock Monster Champ". He also loves mac & cheese, and spends his days watching the game show network with Klip :)

Hope you are having a great week!

Wow, I can't believe we are 2/3rd's through January already!! How is everyone doing with their resolutions? Or.. did we even make them? I really try not to. Or I try not to make ones that I just say, and do not do. Such as.. Dieting, Working Out, Saving Money.. I remember when I was young, it was simple things like, flossing. ha! If only those were the worries now. Which reminds me.. I need to get on my kids about flossing.

Of course being healthy, eating healthy, and working out are ALWAYS there on my list, in the back of my mind, taunting me day in and day out. I made a few other ones this year.. like, learn how not to kill every plant in my house. So far, I have a pretty blooming Hyacinth! First time, EVER! Klip has quite the little green thumb, so he has been advising me, so far, so good :)
While we have been indoor gardening, Domo and Dinnon have been working out. It is many peoples resolutions, as well as a few monsters. They are ever so inspiring.. and remind me daily that just 20 minutes a day, goes a long way.
While they work out, I watch American Idol, and crochet. This may involve some Drumstick pie ....... I will share that recipe with you in the near future. I know I need to change this habit, but I still have the winter blahs, and am lacking motivation. Well, for working out that is.. crochet, is inspiring, this is a neat new pattern that I picked up from Sarah London's site, called "Squiggle Crochet".
And of course, I have been sewing up a few more monsters. I did get the chance to post a few more on my etsy site this morning, and I am sure you will notice that my prices have upped a bit. After a "review" I have decided to up my prices a wee bit and hope that they are still worth the extra to everyone :)
At the moment, I am working on Valentine's Monsters. I pulled out a pile of my reds, pinks, hearts, and even threw in a couple regulars for some more neutral colors, all full of love, of course.
I have grown attached to this first little guy...

He really has the cutest little eye I ever did see! Hope you are having a great week!

And The Winner Is......

Hello! Finally I have the chance to post the results from my draw on Friday!

I had 19 entries in total, a couple were entered twice for being blog followers as well :)

Some people seemed a little unsure of Question #1.. Name 3 Things That Monsters Like! There was a pretty good variety.. Cake, Sprinkle, and New Years, Good Friends, Icing, Spaghetti, Hot Chocolate! A couple little people even consulted with their current monsters to find out they also love Pizza, Sleeping, and Reading!
Dinnon wrote out everyone's names on some of his favorite colors. He pride's himself on neat printing, so this took a bit of time. Neat printing and writing is VERY important!
Domo threw them all in a cup and swirled them a bit, shook them from left to right, he even attempted to do a kart-wheel with the cup, but he lost his balance, the tags flew out of the cup, it was a bit of a disaster... but, it mixed them up really well!
And finally Dinnon drew the name! Klip is very good at doing the drumroll, and that was his sole purpose in this whole thing.

And the Winner is... Karen from Ponoka! Congratulations!!

I personally don't know Karen, but I am happy to pass on a little monster for her!

Thanks to everyone who entered! And thanks for following! Keep reading, there will be more contests this year!

6 Day in..and 2010 has been pretty swell so far :) Back to school for the kids today, so that makes it pretty much perfect now. Everyone is back to routine! Woo Hoo! We have a birthday to celebrate this Friday, and then it's official.. 4 teenagers in our house!
I am attempting to make a cake for the "Twilight" themed party on Friday, so there was a bit of extra. Of course we had to have mini cupcakes with pretty icing and sprinkle for desert..on a there anything better? Monsters of course love cake, and icing...who doesn't??? We are looking forward to having a few friend & family over for a visit and lots of cake!
Speaking of friends..remember Babo.. ? He made a new friend over Christmas. Meet Wedgehead, she is perfectly pink, with 2 spikey teeth, and loves to chat, about anything!
Dinnon, maybe not so overly chatty lately. But this is what we are up to.... not much. I have been distracted from sewing, and finally got all my socks piled up. So I am hoping to get sewing tonight, and have some new monsters posted on my Etsy site by the end of the week.
I finally got my new felt order, so many bright pretty colors! I am always experimenting with different fabrics for the eyes, bellies, ect. I find some wear much different than others. Lately, I have been using this felt, I would love feedback on how it is holding up.
My LITTLE craft space.. in my basement, semi out of the way. I am really hoping to expand this at some point this year. If you look passed..into the little room to the left, we currently have a tool/scrapbooking/storage/freezer/whatever room, and with a little tlc, and a garage for my hubby, I hope to make it my own space in 2010!
I also hope to get a bunch of this sewn up, all my felt, flannel, and sweaters! I have been stockpiling jeans for awhile now, and should soon have enough for a rag blanket.
So things have been pretty quiet. Christmas is all put away, we are back to bedtimes and making lunches, and what I try to encourage (or harrass) everyone to read! Reading is a pretty big routine in our house, and even Klip decided to join in. Although, I am not sure if his book of choice, was of interest, or just to try to prove a point?
Hope you are having a great week! And check back soon, new monsters and stuff on the way!

Happy New Year!

Wow.. a new decade. Seems crazy that 2010 is here already, seems like we just rang in 2009! 2009 was a good year, my first year venturing out into the farmers market world. At first I was leary, which I think is why I never really approached it before, but I had a really good time doing markets (besides the 5 am), I met some awesome people, and I just want to take a minute to thank you for all the support! You are what keeps me sewing! So again, THANKS SO MUCH!

We got together with a few friends to ring in the New Year, and the monsters did the same. Arlo and Eli participated in some fun Cranium games, and there was an abudance of gingerale consumed.
Our New Years Day tradition is fondue. We have done it for about the last 4 years now, and the kids look forward to this every single year. So we set out to cook up some mushrooms, onion, cheese, ect.. and we had a great day. Gets easier as the kids get older, and it sure beats being out in the nasty wind today. Brrr!
Dinnon was a little confused by this whole process. A little known fact about monsters is they tend to GOBBLE their food, it's a terrible habit. So when he only had 2 little forks to cook with, he was slightly cranky. But, in my opinion.. it's an awesome opportunity to have some great conversation, talk about the last year, and what resolutions we might possibly have for 2010.

In 2010 I hope to venture out more with photography, as well as keep up with my sewing. I look forward to it being another creative year!
