Ginger Snaps

Hiya :) Happy Friday!
Do you know how good Ginger is for you?
It has tonnes of health benefits! Google it.. there are ALOT.
I am not sure if Ginger snaps fall in that category..but I
assume they MUST :) Sherman thinks so! Either way, they are seriously GOOD, and EASY.
I am not sure where this recipe originally came from, but
I had it passed down from a dear Aunt, who seriously knows
how to bake ;) So, to make these "crispy on the outside,
chewy in the center" Ginger Snaps, you will need :
- 1 1/2 cups margarine
(melt for 1 minute in microwave)
- 2 cups of brown sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 cup of molasses
( I've been told "fancy" is what you want) If you spray your measuring cup with pam,
the molasses will NOT stick. Do it.
So, you cream the melted butter and sugar together, then
add your molasses, and eggs, 1 at a time. Sift together :
- 4 cups flour
- 4 tsp baking soda
- 2 tsp ginger
- 2 tsp cinnamon
- 1 tsp cloves

( I think the sifting is actually just for the flour, but
I throw in my spices to get it all mixed together)
Add dry to wet, 1 cup at a time, mixing a
wee bit, in between each addition.
Scrape down your sides, mix up a bit more, but do
not overmix. Your dough should be fairly thick :)
Roll dough into balls, then roll in sugar.
Bake @ 325 Degrees for about 10 minutes, turn pan,
and bake another 2 minutes. (my oven is HOT, you might
have to adjust your cooking times a bit) Enjoy!

Hello! A quick update post today. This month seems to
be FLYING by. I am patiently waiting for some April
sunshine! Praying for it even a little ;)

I just received confirmation this week that I have been
in Calgary. April 29th thru May 1st.

Which means.. I need to get sewing! And pretty much
everyday. No weekly breaks. I really have no clue how
to gauge what to make for this craft sale, so at the moment
I am working on trying to complete 20 monsters a week,
without completely neglecting my family (ha). Thankfully
they visit me at my sewing table, since I am there ALOT.

I will update more on this in the weeks to come. Progress
reports :) Sherman also whipped up some ginger snaps,
so he is excited to share that with you soon!

You can check out Make It on their web here,
Or on facebook ----> here!

Monster Business

Hi :) Happy Friiiiiiddddaaaaayyy!
(I'm saying that in my best Oprah voice, just so you know :)
It's getting very near market season, I am sure it will be here
before I know it. Nothing passes more quicky than the days.

My first market this year will be at MRU, which is
Mount Royal University in Calgary, on
April 12th. From 10 to 2 pm.

Then..there is only some 40ish days after that
until the Red Deer Market starts back up :)
I am praying for a lovely spring & summer!
So I am starting to sew more, and stock pile a bit.
Like I mentioned, I am going to try and consistently be
in Red Deer each weekend this year. And I know in order
to keep up, I need to get ahead.

I am still working on Hockey monsters, but waiting on felt.
I order my felt from the states, I just find it to be way more
durable, and I want them to LAST!
I made the pact (again) to not buy ANY socks. I need to use
up my pile, of what I am sure is in the hundreds. Except these
toe socks ...they are new... but that's it! ha
So stock piling it is. I will still be updating
my etsy here and there, but there is a good amount of stock
in there for now. I have about 20 bodies sewn up, and think
I will work on some sweaters this weekend :)

And buttons... I need to figure out a way to add those to
my table as well.

Have a Great Weekend!! xx

How You Doin?

Ah, I remember the days when my only concerns were
getting through Physics, and watching Friends when I got
home from school. Those WERE the days. Although I love
my life, it tends to get a wee bit hectic some days....which
results in lack of blogging, tv, sleep... exercise.. and so on.
Why am I so busy? Might have something to do with my
80 some odd "hobbies". And.. I have a new one that
I wanted to tell you about :) Yay!
I bought myself a Tecre Machine.. which makes buttons.
Not the buttons you sew on, buttons that you attach either
a pin or a magnet too. To decorate your fridge, bags, hats, my
kids took them for their lockers ;) Etsy has a few sellers that
create these hilarious, and inspiring digital files to make buttons
out of, or you can make your own. I did up some "stuf'd"
ones to pass out with my etsy monsters.
Sherman thinks he is a superstar now :) I plan on comitting to the Red Deer market this year, so
why not add to my table! I also decided to open a second
etsy shop :) Which is always a learning curve,
but I am working on it.

You can check it out at
Yep, snottub :)
I would love to do custom orders! They are perfect for your
etsy shop, sports teams, weddings, save the date, campaigning,
the list is endless. So if you would like some buttons,
for surely check out my shop :)

I'll be back with a monstery update tomorrow :)

Oilers vs. Flames

Hello! Happy Thursday!!
This is Doobren and Mackaroy. A wee bit ago my husband
thought it would be a good idea to make hockey monsters.
I agreed, but this all I did. ha. I didn't really try at all.
I was content sewing away with my current monsters,
then he pestered...err, encouraged me more. and more.
and....well, I gave in and did up these 2.
I am not really a hockey fan. I mean, I like watching it, but
I don't really have a favorite by any means. Oilers and Flames
are pretty central alberta, so I started out with them. And.. I
kinda wanted to keep them! Cute! But within a few hours they
are both sold and off to new homes :)
I will continue to add the odd hockey monster to my etsy
shop here and there. I like the black eyes, and stitches, and
think they will continue to be a hockey trait :)
So if you are looking for a particular team, keep checking my
shop :) I am going to try and get a variety of up there!

And I would LOVE feedback on what team you would
like to see! xx
