Pumpkin Tarts

Thanksgiving is on it's way :) My favorite... is the pumpkin pie...
and the whip cream. Mashed potatoes and gravy are pretty good too.
You can of course use canned pumpkin... but we typically start a hurricane in the kitchen, and use fresh pumpkin. I medium sized one, will make about 6 to 7 dozen tarts. Quarter the pumpkin, clean out the inside, soften in microwave, blend through processor or blender, and then strain it with cheesecloth to get out excess water.
In a bowl, mix together :
1 1/2 cups pumpkin
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup white sugar
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp cloves
1 tsp ginger
1 cup evaporated milk
2 eggs, beaten
Whisk together until well combined :)
Fill tart shells (about 1 heaping tbsp of filling)
Bake for 8 minutes at 450, and then reduce to 350 and bake
another 20 - 25 minutes.
Let cool, LOAD with cool whip, and Enjoy :)

Hello! Remember me?
Summer has zipped right by. Instead of holidays, we decided to renovate this year... not quite as much fun, but the outcome was awesome! I might have to post a pic or two in the weeks to follow, when I will be updating my blog regularily...I know, you've heard that before.
I only did 2 markets this summer. And have signed up for 2 markets for the Christmas season. First I will be doing Our Best To You, in Red Deer on October 26th thru 28th. And one at the Calgary Waldorf School in November. Will post dates and times as they near.
So my stock (sock) pile is at about 60 monsters.. and I have ALOT of sewing to do.

Hello! Happy July :)
We have been having a major heatwave here in Alberta.
So HOT! My flowers are LOVING this weater, a little more than me :)
I have chosen only to do a few markets this summer, and need to start stocking up for Christmas shows, yes, I know... Christmas. Yikes. I will be posting more info on that stuff, as it gets closer!
Sherman (and me) have been patiently waiting for lillies!
They are for surely my FAVORITE!
I know you've hear it before, but I am going to try and update my blog a little bit more than every 2 months! Holidays are right around the corner :) We are not venturing to far, but pics may involve the fair, the beach, renovations, and of course....sewing!
This morning we woke up to these blooms :) So pretty!
Hope you are having an awesome summer!

I find myself neglecting my blog alot, but I don`t always have alot of info, or any, to post! So, I thought I would do a little... what`s happening, Wednesday.

This little guy is my Beastlie friend, Doosle, hanging out in one of my pots that I picked up at costco :) I am patiently waiting for plant season :) - Tis one of my favorite times of year!

Currently -

- I have about 18 days until Lilac Festival, and am currently
counting 130 ish monsters (lots of time left to reach 200! ha)

- I do know my location, but can`t remember it.
I know I am on 17th Avenue, will post exact spot soon!

- Renovations are happening in my house, & I am living in a bit of disaster. For those of you that know me, know I don`t deal with disaster well. New carpet & lino in 6 days, can`t wait! A portion of Mother`s Day will be spent pulling out old carpet, exciting, yet gross, at the same time!

- I believe it`s true what they say. Want you kids to leave home. Stop cooking with cheese. I am not quite ready for them to leave yet, but if they could pitch in for groceries, that would be AWESOME :) - 4 Growing Teenagers = Craziness.

- Instagram is my new favorite thing! I adore my iphone, and instagram makes it THAT much better! The above photo is courtesy of them both, Iphone + Instagram.

Blogger has changed a few things, so I wanted to do a test post, to see how it all works, and looks. Plus, I thought it would be a good chance to share this pic with you. You may be thinking, a sock monster... and an incomplete one at that... but this isn't just any sock monster. My husband sewed this monster and stuffed it, all on his own :) - WOO HOO! After awhile, alot of mine seem to take the same shape, so it's nice to see a different take on one :) xx - I am looking forward to more!

4 more weeks until Lilac Festival!! I am sewing sewing sewing! ( and hoping for nice weather)

Over a month since my last post! Ack!
I have finally, FINALLY, gotten back into a sewing groove, and have been sewing along, trying to pile up monsters for the Lilac Festival in Calgary, on May 27th!
Sherman is well. Waiting patiently for spring. Hopefully soon we will see some green popping up in the flower beds! xx

Happy Valentines Day!

Hello ;) Happy Valentines Day!
Monsters LOVE love, and cookies, so we thought we would
incorporate the two and make some homemade valentines ;)
So I took my basic cookie recipe, and then drove ALL over Red Deer, looking for 'valentines smarties', - red and pink ones. But I could only find teeny tiny boxes, so I bought a huge bulk bag and picked out the blue, green, and brown ;)
Mix up the dough, add the smarties, I think I used about 3 cups.
Now, make LARGE cookies. I think these were about 1/3 of a cup in size,
6 to a pan. Bake about 15 minutes, or until golden brown, and cool.
While you cookies are baking / cooling, get crafty! I used cardstock, stamps, string, hole punch, and some paper cd cases. Put a piece of colored cardstock in the cd case to make it more sturdy, and then make any type of little tag to decorate the case.
Insert cookie, wrap with string, tie on tag, and voila!
Yummy, awesome, homemade valentines ;)

Hi :) Surprisingly enough, it hasn't been 27 days since my last post, although it's been long enough! I've had a crazy couple of weeks, & balance is lacking. We had a break in at work, my computer went missing, along with 7 months of data, that was not backed up to disc :(
So I have been digging my way out of paper piles for a week now.

My button shop has been crazy busy, & consumes 1 to 2 hours of my time each night. Then, there are those 4 teenagers in my house, whom are busy with Physics - hate it, Basketball - lots of travelling, usually in 2 different directions, and we are currently teaching #3 to drive. His test is today, ACK! I'm nervous! Although, I think he is going to do awesome.
I had to cancel out of the Winterfest Market in Sylvan this month, I couldn't possibly be ready for it. But, I have begun the HUGE task of sewing alot of monsters for the Lilac Festival, which is in May, in Calgary, I will be posting more on that as it gets closer.

I will also be posting a handfull of monsters in my etsy shop today :)

Watch for Sherman, and Valentines goodies SOON! xo

27 Days

Hi ;) Sorry it's been so long since my last post, 27 days to be exact. The New Year came, a deepfreeze hit, and I started to hibernate. Did a little crocheting.... not alot of sewing. Pondering a kitchen reno, & spending every weekend watching the kids play basketball! I have a hoard of these little cute hearts. Not sure what I am going to do with them, but I have seen alot of popular little bunting, so I might try that out ;)

I have had a few newbies in my shop for a bit, which I am going to try and switch out this weekend! - I have 12 monsters off to Rocky Mountain Imports again, so if you are in Drayton Valley, check out Tammy's store!
Next month I will be doing the Sylvan Lake Winterfest Market I will update you more on that when it gets closer!
Have a great weekend! xx
