Hello! I know, I'm lame at blogging! I always, always forget! So, happy movember!
I've been sewing, sewing, sewing! Christmas season is always a bit busier, lots of custom guys going out. If you're looking for a monster, but can't find the perfect one, message me! Facebook, etsy, or email :)
I will be trying to keep a handful of monsters on etsy each week, starting this weekend :)
Thanks for popping by, and as always, I will try and stop in more! Sherman is getting pretty excited for Lego advent, Christmas baking, and of course, Santa! xx

Summit Lodge, Whistler BC

Hello! Happy Monday :)
Or, whatever day you might be reading this :)
As some of you may, or may not know, I have been shipping my monsters to Summit Lodge for a couple of years now. They put them in their rooms, and people can adopt them :) Seriously Awesome! Lorraine (Operations Director) found me on etsy, asked me to try it out, and our relationship has evolved! So many people have visited this hotel, and adopted monsters, which have traveled all around. So, we were lucky enough to catch a quick vaca this year, and visit ourselves!
Whistler is such an awesome place. Reminds me a little of Banff, but BIGGER. I love all the patios, and how outdoorsy it is, as well as the view :) Summit is located on Main Street, in the center of all the awesomeness!
This place has the most adorable details! Firstly, there are sock monsters on their beds ;) The shampoo, conditioner, and soap, not only smells amazing, but it's in these trendy little containers! The rooms are adorable, ipad minis, a little kitchenette, table for dining, and couch for vegging. - Or, sewing sock monsters if you hubby decides to go zip-lining, and there is no way you are going :)
Equipped with a little snack bar. Wine, chips, popcorn. Cute note pads! Cool pens! Even the door knocker made me smile.
Reunited and it feels so good. Sherman was especially ecstatic to meet one of his own. You could tell this little guy was loved, and I felt kinda bad not taking him home! Sherm and him had fun catching up, watching some cartoons, and testing out the Whistler chocolate :)
I could go on and on, but I recommend checking it out for yourself! The view, amazing, the people, awesome. It was so nice to meet Lorraine, and Tony, and we were so thankful they were able to take some time out to chat with us (over an awesome breakfast)! We hope to visit again, and you should too! Check them out HERE.

Alberta Sight Seeing :)

I think I am on a roll with my blogging, and then nearly a month passes! Summer is flying by so fast! We took a mini vaca to the states and back a couple weeks ago :)

Here Sherman is looking for goats ;) Normally he does not ride shotgun! He of course is belted in, in the back ;)
Our first stop was at Frank Slide. This was pretty crazy to see, little Sherman does not even show close to the depth of disaster that happened here. Sad! And WINDY!
We spent the night at this amazing little B&B called, York Creek, Anne and Ken were the FRIENDLIEST hosts! Go visit them!
And not only were they friendly, Anne is an amazing cook. So again, go and visit them! Next up, Whitefish Montana, I'll post pics this week :) xx

For any of you that aren't :)
Up for grabs is Melly, this fluffy pink monster! Melly is about 8" tall, and is a little shy. She loves ham sandwiches, grape bubblegum, thumb wars, and sheds a little. A lint roller is great to have on hand :) If you LOVE her, and are on instagram, all you have to do is be a follower of stufdmonsters, and comment on Melly's pic! Winner will be drawn on Sunday (July 26th).
Good Luck! xx

Argyle sweaters are my FAVE. And this 3D guy was also a fave. I haven't ever made one all attached in one piece like Rexy (my nickname for him). He would stand on his own, was extra hugable, and I wanted to keep him.. what's new. He has since been adopted, but I'm sure he is loving his new sunny surroundings, while armed with ant spray.
Yes, he hates ants. Loves hugs... and Dinosaurs. Well, on the big screen, he doesn't think he would ever want to actually meet one, not the bird ones anyhow. Dinosour's though, best candy eva!
To show how awesomely BIG he is, here he is pictured with his friend Ferl. Ferl was a little afraid of him, then they shared a grilled cheese, and bff's they became :)

Hello! Happy July :)
Markets are one of my fave things in the summer. Unfortunately I haven't been able to stock enough monsters to sell at a market, but we still enjoy touring the Red Deer Farmers Market most Saturdays. I have signed up for one Sale this year, in Calgary in September, I will post more on that soon!
It's been SUPER HOT in Alberta. Like, take to the basement and hibernate hot. Sherman has been keeping cool though ;)

Sewing newbies nearly every day. Summit Lodge is still adopting monsters, which again, has been so awesome. I've had great feedback from all over the world! I've been trying to post more on instagram, so if you want to follow, look up "stufdmonsters".
Hope you're having an awesome summer! I am sure Sherman will be up to some new adventures soon, will post pics ;)

Rhubarb Muffins

These are so good! I adapt this recipe depending on what ingredients I have on hand, and they ALWAYS turn out tasty! I've included the "original" though, if you want to try it.
Ingredients :
1 1/4 Cups Brown Sugar
1 Cup Vegetable Oil ( I used 1/4 cup Oil / 3/4 cup Unsweetened Applesauce )
1 Egg
2 tsp. Vanilla
1 Cup Buttermilk (Substitute by mixing : 1 tbsp Lemon in 1 Cup Milk, Let sit 10 min)
1 1/2 Cups Chopped Rhubarb
2 1/2 Cups Flour
1 tsp Baking Soda
1/2 tsp Salt
1 tbsp Baking Powder

Mix dry ingredients in one bowl, and wet in another. Add dry to wet, do not over mix. Fill greased muffin tins and bake for 20 - 25 minutes. They usually take the full 25 if you are using the applesauce.  Let cool.

The Topping = The Best Part
Mix 1/2 cup Sugar, 1/2 tsp Cinnamon, and 2 tbsp Butter.
Spread a little (or a lot) on each muffin.

Devour! Or... At least that's what my family does :) xx

Nelly & Nib

I found these super cute tiny socks in grey, red, & back. I thought I would do a couple mom/baby combos :) I have made a few of these previously, but it's been forever!

See, so little!! The mom, is made from a sweater sleeve :)
Once I had them stitched up, I used part of a sock to sew a little pouch on, for the baby to fit in.
And here you have Nelly and her little guy Nib :)

You can find them here, in my etsy shop! xx

Hello! Happy April, soon to be May. My blogging hasn't gotten any better... I'm still working on that. I've been sewing daily, with majority of my monsters going to Summit Lodge :)

Normally I would have some lovely flower pics of plants popping up in my beds. But my yard has been massacred, & my perennials are in pots... deep breaths! - We have a summer project on the go :)
This little guy moved to Hawaii last week, I can see why he's so happy!

Always seeking different looks for the wooly grey guys. I do like these antlers :) Gives them character for sure!

If you are on instagram, you can find my feed by searching "stufdmonsters", lots of new faces there. I will continue to try and update my Etsy shop regularily, which just hit 200 sales. HOORAY! As well as my Made Urban.

I am really hoping to do a Red Deer market or two this summer! Will be posting more on that when I know. xx

More Mocha Cupcakes!

I made a couple batches of these for a Valentines treat, using my fave, previously blogged Mocha recipe. So, you need, Betty Crocker Cake Mix :
To this, I added 1 cup of Buttermilk, 4 Eggs, and 1/2 Cup Vegetable Oil
I think the trickiest part is evenly distributing the mix among 24 tins! Bake according to directions on the box, 20 minutes at 350 in my case.

Now, the icing I whipped up in my Mix Master (you can use a bowl and electric mixer as well), and it was a little messy, so there are no pics. THIS post shows you how messy. THIS RECIPES ROCKS :

Dissolve 1 tsp of Instant Coffee in 1/4 Cup Warm Water
In your Mix Master Bowl ...
1/2 Cup Butter, Softened (a little), Whip a Little
To that, Add, 1/4 Cup Cocoa, Mix
Then 2 Cups Icing Sugar, 1 Cup at a time
Add Your Coffee Mix in Between Icing Sugar.

I let this whip up for a minute or so, scraping the side, until it's light a fluffly!

Normally I double this for 24 Cupcakes. One batch isn't quite enough, 2 has enough for some serious taste testing :)
Bake, Cool, Decorate however you would like! I bought these little toppers and liners at Superstore. Seriously Cute!
Enjoy! xx

Minion Valentines!

Minions are one of my most favorite things, besides monsters ;) Annnd I kinda like Valentines too! So, when I saw THIS POST on Pinterest, I had to pick up a box of twinkies! You can click the link for her direction, and print out of the minions :)
I used photoshop to make these little tags, and printed them out of cardstock, but you could easily cut them freehand and write out your tags!
You need twinkies, tape, scissors, twine, tags, and a printer!
Sherman wanted to help out, and helpful he was :) There are 8 twinkies in a box, and you will notice I have 6 complete valentines....
Once you tape the wrapper on the twinkie, punch a hole in the top of the wrapper, tie on the tag, and you're finished! So cute! And great for anyone :)
Who is your favorite minion??

Happy 2015

Christmas came and went in a blur, as usual. But it was also lovely. My boys spoiled me this year, we had nearly 2 weeks off together, that never happens anymore. You start to realize as they get older that time really is precious. xx

It was VERY cool to ship monsters off to Germany, Scotland, and the US during the Christmas season. I love handmade, and find more people appreciate the love and uniqueness that goes into it. So thank you for the monster love!

I have been stitching away continuously, hoping to keep my etsy shop plump, and besides Whistler, I have a few monsters going to Northwest Baby Co. in GP.
I am hoping to keep up with the blogging in the New Year. Sherman is getting excited for Valentine's crafts and baking :)

Loving the little smirks on these guys lately.

Will post soon! xx
